It’s a funny old saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”, but how many of us actually eat an apple a day to find out if it works? It’s like someone will suggest exercise to keep fit and the usual excuse is “I am too busy”. I wonder how many people that are too busy to exercise, manage to find time to be ill?
It is the same with some business owners, too busy to do the basic things that will grow their business. The basics like making sales calls, monitoring the key numbers in the business, training the team and involving them in the growth of the business, amongst other things.
Most of us are very good at being busy and finding things to do to fill our time that justifies our existence and salary, but let me ask you this ‘How much of your time is spent doing productive things that will grow your business, improve your life and those of your family, plus very importantly improve the lives of your clients?” The last one happens because you have taken the time to get new clients and you are great at what you do and so therefore you improve their lives.
The 80/20 Rule can be trusted to help you here, because 20% of the activities you do will bring you 80% of your income. Tim Ferriss in ‘The 4 Hour Work Week’ takes you on a journey of how profitable this rule can be and how you can use it to change your life.
After you have read this little blog I would like you to ask yourself a couple of questions:
1) What are the things I do that improve my income and my business?
2) How can I do it more and better?
3) What will my life be like when I am doing it more successfully?
Why not give it a go? What’s the worst that could happen? Like ‘An apple a day’ it may just work and you could be on your way to not only changing your own life, but that of those connected to you.
If you would like help working out what your 20% is we are more than happy to sit down with you to work it out and then guide you towards your own success.
